Julie Wray-McCann has been a VET teacher for 10 years after previously teaching students from prep to Year 12 both in Australia and overseas. As a Learning Support teacher at Bendigo Kangan Institute, Julie assists both students and Institute staff. She is playing a lead role in the integration of effective language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) practices in vocational qualifications across the Institute to assist students with deficits and has developed a dedicated LLN study kit for staff and external clients completing the Diploma of Vocational Education and Training.

Julie has developed a study skills programme tailored specifically for VCE TAFE students and, through collaboration with VCAL teachers and students, designs and teaches specific programmes to address skill needs. She has developed Learning Support programmes for pre-apprentices in building, electrical and automotive.

Julie was named Kangan Institute’s Teacher of the Year in 2013 and is a member of the Victorian Adult Literacy and Basic Education Council.
