David Barker’s career in the baking industry has spanned 25 years. Starting as an apprentice baker, and climbing ranks to become successful business owner, it seemed a natural progression for David to eventually share his passion and motivation for the baking industry as a VET teacher/trainer.
David Barker’s career in the baking industry has spanned 25 years. Starting as an apprentice baker, and climbing ranks to become successful business owner, it seemed a natural progression for David to eventually share his passion and motivation for the baking industry as a VET teacher/trainer.
In the commercial cookery and bakery area of Charles Darwin University, David teaches off-the-job skills to Australian School-based Apprentices and Australian Apprentices, as well as subjects to VET in School students.
David’s student base is diverse, including Indigenous, international and mature-age students. Known for his ability to provide additional educational and learning support, David uses innovative and flexible teaching methods and provides personal encouragement to achieve excellent learning outcomes.
