Matthew King is a trainer at Swan Trade Training Centre (STTC) where he delivers the pre-apprenticeship Certificate II in Electrotechnology.

The STTC is a unique training delivery method as it is located within Swan Christian College, a private school for Kindergarten to Year 12. Matthew was responsible for establishing the course, which is the only school-based pre-apprenticeship electrical course in Western Australia run by in-house staff.

With a passion for working with young people, Matthew believes through great teaching you can shape the next generation.

To maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge of current industry practices, Matthew runs his own electrical business on weekends and school holidays. The experiences he has had, and problems he has solved through working for himself, have provided him with teaching ideas to use in the classroom.

Matthew attends as many industry forums as he can so that as a mentor, he can provide his students with inspirational learning experiences that are relevant to industry.
