Judy Hoskins, Lead Teacher in Indigenous Primary Health Care, is a tireless advocate for her students and the industry. A registered nurse, with leadership and management experience, she has raised the profile of Indigenous Primary Health Care with an approach to training that focuses on quality and evidence.
Working in hospitals, remote clinics, prison health and Indigenous homeland services has reinforced Judy’s belief in training that promotes best practice. This drives her commitment to develop training specific to the needs of Indigenous health workers to assist them provide better treatment for people living in remote communities.
Judy’s contributions to the VET sector include chairing a reference group, reviewing and editing textbooks and developing and reviewing Indigenous health resources. She is currently studying a Graduate Diploma in Public Health, recently won the TAFE Queensland North staff award for Industry Collaboration and is now in contention for the TAFE Queensland state staff award.
