Matthew Deveraux grew up on Northern Territory cattle stations with a passion for horses and polocrosse. It seemed a natural progression for Matthew to pass on his agricultural skills and become a vocational education and training teacher.
Since 2011, Matthew has taught at comprehensive rural school, Taminmin College where he has delivered nationally recognised qualifications in agriculture.
Matthew’s local agricultural sector knowledge, coupled with his industry connections have helped the College set up key partnerships to build its agriculture program into a reputable source of skilled graduates. Matthew tailors the College’s agriculture program to the tropical conditions experienced in the north, as well as ensuring students are fully skilled in local industry needs such as live export.
Matthew also brings in professional experts in areas such as equine dentistry, dog handling and cattle work to broaden students’ experiences. Since being appointed to his role, student numbers and completions in the Certificate III in Agriculture have increased.
