Challenger Institute of Technology offers over 350 courses to more than 23 000 students throughout an area spanning 6220 square kilometres across Western Australia.

Committed to the needs of industry, Challenger Institute of Technology works closely with more than 400 community and business partners, including in oil and gas, health, maritime, hospitality and construction, to build a skilled and productive workforce and to fill labour shortages.

In 2012, Challenger Institute of Technology won the Large Training Provider of the Year Award, a significant milestone in the organisation’s history. Chief Executive officer Liz Harris says she was humbled by the achievement.

“I have had the privilege of watching Challenger grow from strength to strength in recent years, and I am proud of how the institute consistently demonstrates creativity, excellence and innovation across every level of the organisation.

“It was an honour to be recognised at the Australian Training Awards – the highest level of recognition in the vocational education and training sector.

“Winning this award was a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of our staff and the leadership teams across the institute who work tirelessly and are incredibly committed to providing the best service they possibly can to students, industry and the community that we serve,” Liz said.

The process of applying for the Australian Training Awards provided Challenger Institute of Technology with time to reflect on its achievements and validate its objectives.

“The Australian Training Awards is a wonderful process to go through because it helps you reflect on where you are at as an organisation.

“Being recognised as the best in Australia is a fantastic accolade and something I encourage other training organisations to strive towards. For us, it validated what we were saying about ourselves, and affirmed that we are providing high quality, industry focused training to exceptional standards,” Liz said.

The 2012 accolade was the second time Challenger Institute of Technology won the title after being announced Large Training Provider of the Year in 2005.
