Since 2012, Bubup Wilam, an Aboriginal-managed and controlled organisation, has provided holistic services for the education and care of six month to six year old Aboriginal children and their families. Identifying the need for training that supported and embraced students’ Aboriginal identities as their fundamental strength for success, the organisation proceeded to develop a workplace culture of lifelong learning.
Bubup Wilam’s onsite training model stems from Aboriginal perspective, knowledge system and values, and focuses on building Aboriginal people’s capacity for education, training and employment. This unique program builds future Aboriginal leadership while also ensuring students receive the skills and knowledge to broaden their post-training work options and meet existing AQTF standards.
A strong relationship with a community-based RTO has ensured a collaborative and innovative approach to curriculum development, training and assessment and led to outstanding outcomes for both Bubup Wilam and the community.
