Certificate III in Education Support

Since 2014, Sharnie-Lee Clark, a Year 13 student at Jordan River Learning Federation Senior School, has successfully completed qualifications in community services, agriculture and horticulture. Unsure what career pathway to take, she believed that by combining a number of VET courses with her school studies she could learn about the range of potential job opportunities and maximise her future employment opportunities.

A successful work placement at East Derwent Primary School resulted in the offer of an Australian School-based Apprenticeship. Sharnie-Lee was interested in working with children and assisting them beyond the childcare stage and undertook a Certificate III in Education Support, confirming that she is best suited to a career in child care or as a teacher assistant.

Combining academic work with training has been of immense value in developing Sharnie-Lee’s communication and leadership skills and she now promotes her training, industry and school by speaking to prospective students about her educational pathway and achievements.
