Sebastian Connor has had a busy year working as a School-based Apprentice, studying a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and working at Pilot. Restaurant + Bar. Sebastian is finalising his tertiary study at Dickson College.
Sebastian is grateful for his School-based Apprenticeship and is confident in what he wants to do after Year 12 – pursue a career as a chef.
Sebastian concedes it’s not always easy, but with focus and determination balances his work and study commitments. Sebastian said working in the kitchen has increased his passion for cooking and his training has made him a more disciplined student. Between school, training and work he has a larger workload than some of his peers, but he works hard to complete all of his assessments to a high standard.
Last year Sebastian won the ACT Big Geography competition and spent a week on Kangaroo Island learning about geography, tourism and sustainability. Sebastian also won the Canberra Healthy Teen Chef Award.
