At only 19 years of age, Samantha is enjoying a great start to her career in community recreation as the Sports and Recreation Coordinator for Black Mountain School in Canberra – a specialist secondary school for students with an intellectual disability.

At only 19 years of age, Samantha is enjoying a great start to her career in community recreation as the Sports and Recreation Coordinator for Black Mountain School in Canberra – a specialist secondary school for students with an intellectual disability.

Samantha obtained the position at the school after completing a community recreation traineeship with them in 2014.

Every day Samantha has the opportunity to work with each classroom, staff member and student at Black Mountain School. She enjoys a wide range of responsibilities including planning and conducting physical education programs, excursions and implementing the School’s hydrotherapy programs.

This is not the first nationally recognised qualification for Samantha. In 2013, she completed a Certificate II in Sport and Recreation through an Australian School-based Apprenticeship.
