SA Power Networks has embraced the emerging digital age that utilises automation, digital control technologies and artificial intelligence to deliver improved energy solutions to South Australia.

SA Power Networks started retraining and upskilling employees and integrates smart thinking into its training environment, tying its training framework to an effective performance and development review process.

Currently there are 105 apprentices in training. In the past 20 years, the company has trained 575 electrical apprentices and has a 93 per cent retention rate.

To build its leadership capabilities, SA Power Networks supports team members to complete either a Certificate IV, or Diploma in Leadership and Management.

The trade technical courses have been rewritten to utilise online technologies, and the advanced diploma has moved to synchronistic webinars, combined with on-the-job learning and online assessments.

SA Power Networks recognises quality training improves productivity and engagement. More than 550 apprentices and 220 engineering graduates employed since 2003 are successfully performing in supervisory and leadership positions across the organisation.
