His love of preparing his family’s evening meal convinced him that hospitality was the industry in which he wanted to work. Securing an Australian School-based Apprenticeship at Windy Point Restaurant and Café whilst in Year 11 at Blackwood High School, Ross believes that embarking on this pathway is the best decision he has ever made.

Working towards his Certificate III in Commercial Cookery through TAFE SA’s Regency Campus, Ross is embracing the opportunities provided by his employer, including responsibility for running the dessert section on busy weekend nights. Ross actively promotes vocational pathways through open nights at his school and newsletter articles that he writes for his school and a local trade school bulletin.

In 2013 Ross was part of a group that travelled to Cambodia, where they constructed a new floor for an orphanage’s school building.
