Following the completion of bachelor degrees in environmental design and architecture (with Honours), Richard Wilkinson worked as an architect for three years. However, his on the job experiences led to his realisation that he preferred the application and building aspects of plans over their design.

Undertaking studies towards a Certificate III in Carpentry as a mature-age student through Learning Partners, Richard enjoyed the on and off the job training opportunities that his Australian Apprenticeship with Perry & Perry Builders provided. Richard plans to continue his professional development through further studies at the Certificate IV level.

Richard designed, project managed and constructed a beach house for his family on Tasmania’s east coast, and has since been asked to design and build the dream homes of other clients.

Richard enjoys helping his friends with their building projects and is renovating his own home. He is involved in a range of sporting activities and fundraises for a number of charities.
