North Construction and Building employs a full-time apprentice manager to provide the right learning environment for each apprentice, with regular reviews to monitor progress and provide support.
The apprentice program is structured to teach carpentry and leadership skills from the apprentices’ first day on site.
A large number of employees who now hold senior site positions are graduates of the apprentice program, representing 116 years of collective knowledge and experience.
The company also runs a structured cadet program, targeting students who have completed their first year of studies. They are invited to apply for a summer internship which gives students the opportunity to affirm that they have chosen the right degree.
Similar to the intent of the apprentice program, the cadet program is a key driver in growing future contracts administrators, project managers and estimators.
