Certificate III in Process Plant Operations

After eight years in the insurance industry in Perth, Kariyarra woman Naomi Beath returned home to the Pilbara for a career change. Accepting a traineeship in Woodside’s Pathway Program, she undertook a Certificate II and III in Logistics and while working in a support role for the Karratha Gas Plant Operations team realised her interest in a career in that field.

Naomi completed a Certificate II and III to qualify as a Process Plant Operator. Her traineeship, which included study plus practical work at different sites, also improved her written skills and developed her ability to communicate with a wide variety of people.

Naomi has volunteered to train as a Peer Support and Mental Health Advocate, training that will help at work and in the community. She hopes to be a role model for other Indigenous people and believes apprenticeships and traineeships are the best way to build experience and skills to achieve career goals.
