Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology

When Luke Fraley did a work experience block with NQ Diesel, he impressed his colleagues enough to be offered weekend and school holiday work, which quickly led to the offer of an apprenticeship. Luke wanted to jump at the chance, but also wanted to complete his QCE. A compromise was reached and Luke commenced a school-based apprenticeship in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology

As the only apprentice in his workplace, Luke gets to work on a wide variety of equipment. It’s a dream come true, because for as long as he can remember, Luke has been interested in cars, trucks, motorbikes – pretty much anything with an engine.

Luke excels in the classroom and is often well ahead of his peers in theory subjects. Instead of sitting around waiting for them to catch up, he assist his fellow students, impressing his facilitators with his initiative.

Luke was the 2019 recipient of the Rotary All Rounder Student of the Year Award, the English Communications Award, QSmart Achievement Award for Maths, and Engineering Apprentice of the Year.
