Liz Birch has been a language, literacy and numeracy teacher for over 24 years. In the past 15 years with TAFE Queensland Brisbane, Liz has dedicated her working life to assisting migrants successfully overcome cultural and linguistic barriers to integrate into the modern Australian workforce.

Liz has implemented a work experience program at TAFE Queensland Brisbane that has helped her students establish industry connections and secure paid employment.
Through extensive networking with businesses and industry groups, Liz has established an expansive range of contacts for the work experience placements. To open even more doors Liz ensures all her students undertake workplace health and safety training.
A keen advocate of innovative teaching methods, Liz implements computerised learning via tablets in the classroom with a range of educational apps to aid her student’s preparation.
Liz’s successful Work Experience Log Book initiative is now being used as a model resource across the TAFE Queensland network.
