Kyabra Limited Hours Child Care Centre provides opportunities for local volunteers and students at the nearby Sunnybank State High School to undertake work placements. Kyabra hosts Australian School-based Apprentices studying for a Certificate III in Children’s Services and students in Years 11 and 12 enrolled in Early Childhood Studies, Certificate II in Community Services and Certificate II in Active Volunteering. Kyabra also encourages general work experience students and community volunteers and has provided hundreds of placements over the past 17 years.

Kyabra is currently hosting 10 apprentices who are on track to complete their qualifications in 2014 and 2015. Each spends approximately 36 hours in training each month.
The community of Sunnybank is very multicultural, with the high school population representing 68 different nationalities. This diversity is reflected at Kyabra, with many of the apprentices having moved to Australia and not having English as their first language.
