Joshua Dales had completed one year of training as a builder before he realised that a switch to electrotechnology would provide him the career path he wanted.

Inspired by critical thinking displayed by electricians he had met, Joshua changed trades and joined Access Solutions, a specialist electrical company in 2011 as a first year Australian Apprentice.

With a naturally analytical and technical mind, Joshua excelled in his training. In his fourth year, Access Solutions gave Joshua responsibility for supervising a critical lift installation at the Myer Icon commercial project in Hobart. During the installation Joshua oversaw eight tradespeople six days a week for three weeks with successful results. Joshua is now a qualified Electrician and Lift Technician for the company.

Joshua sees room for improvement in the training of Australian Apprentices. He is passionate about bringing back a master craftsman mindset in the trades sector and believes there is an opportunity in Australia to produce more leading tradespeople on a global scale.
