Jillian Ashley is the Head Teacher of the Education, Employment and Support and Business faculties at TAFE NSW - North Coast Institute, Macksville Campus. She has qualifications across a range of sectors, including literacy and numeracy teaching and a Master of Arts in TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages). Jillian’s area of expertise is the delivery of innovative and contextualised literacy and numeracy teaching which addresses social justice issues.

Jillian’s TAFE’s Skills for Education and Employment programme delivers a range of Certificate I programmes aimed at preparing students for a smooth transition into studies in specific areas such as aged care, IT and trades.

Jillian designed an Elders Introduction to Technology course, which goes beyond the teaching of basic level technology skills – disadvantaged youth in the community help Elders to improve their technology skills while, in return, the Elders help the youth develop a sense of pride in their community and respect for themselves, their culture and customs.
