Certificate III and IV in Conservation and Land Management

Working on country is one of Jarrod Edwards’ greatest passions. Employed in land management since the age of 21, he works as the Land Management Supervisor at the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre in Burnie, managing the extensive Preminghana site in north-west Tasmania.

After years in the industry without a qualification, Jarrod chose to complete Certificates III and IV in Conservation and Land Management at TasTAFE because of his Aboriginal heritage, his love of nature and the outdoors, and his desire to conserve the environment. Enjoying learning through experience, VET was the perfect vehicle for Jarrod to transfer skills and knowledge gained from experience into formally recognised qualifications.

Jarrod’s training complements his current undergraduate studies in history, geography and environmental studies and will enable him to progress in the industry. Continuing to sell the benefits of training, Jarrod plans to continue his studies and eventually mentor the next generation of Aboriginal land management workers.
