Janaya Millgate developed an interest in childcare when her parents became foster carers when she was 18.

She began a traineeship at the Farran Street childcare centre, and over three years Janaya completed a Certificate III and Diploma qualifications in early childhood.

Janaya is the Indigenous liaison at the childcare centre and has been instrumental in ensuring that all children and staff have a deep and authentic understanding and respect for Indigenous cultures.

As a girl from a small country town, Janaya wants take her knowledge and experience back home, not only to her local preschool, but to promote childcare as a great profession to the young people in her community.
