After working in childcare, Jameela Kye Smith completed an eight week programme as a teacher’s aide and cultural awareness advisor at Wyoming Public School. She then completed a youth programme through The ORS Group that provided assistance with entry level training and job seeking skills. She then undertook work experience at ORS and was offered a part-time reception role which soon turned into a full-time customer service role. Jameela completed her Certificate IV in Employment Services through ORS Training Solutions.

Jameela has since moved into ORS’ compliance team where her role includes performance and work experience reporting and client management. She is considering further study within the community services sector, where she wishes to work with Aboriginal youth.

Jameela is part of the Guliyaali Bandaarr Dreamtime Dancers group, and coordinates the group’s bookings and client management. The group performs shows for the National Rugby League and NAIDOC, as well as other Indigenous celebrations.
