Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade

Jack Donaldson used his secondary education to consider his career pathway and undertake a number of work experience placements. With childhood memories of his grandfather, a 40-year career boilermaker, Jack was happy to be offered a fabrication apprenticeship by ASC in 2012.

Motivated by his training and with strong employer support, Jack completed a number of certificates during his apprenticeship and undertook both work-related and volunteer studies. This strengthened his communication and leadership skills and his confidence and in 2016 he was named ASC’s Apprentice of the Year.

Jack is proud of his achievements as an apprentice. Aware his career is just beginning, he believes an apprenticeship is the best foundation to build on, whatever your career goals, as on-the-job experiences offer greater understanding of the complexities and manual skills required of the tradesperson. Jack aspires to management and will work towards this by completing an Advanced Diploma in Leadership and Management before future university studies.
