While in Year 11, Emma Hay chose to pursue a vocational pathway and quickly completed certificates in both business and animal studies. The following year, she was keen to undertake a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing through Polytechnic West and, with persistence and determination, she was able to commence studies and obtain a part-time traineeship at GEOvet Veterinary Hospital.

Dedicated to both her school and vocational studies while pursuing her traineeship, Emma completed her Certificate IV while still in Year 12 and is now a qualified and registered veterinary nurse. She plans to complete further studies at university, with the goal of being a veterinarian.

Emma was named Polytechnic West’s Trainee of the Year in 2013, and was also awarded the Beazley Medal (VET). She enjoys horse riding and equestrian events, and has previously assisted with coaching younger riders.
