Certificate IV in Government

While at school, Chloe Handley aspired to become an events and weddings manager. After completing Year 12 she was accepted into a Bachelor of Business, specialising in Event Management, at the University of Canberra but declined the offer in favour of an Advanced Diploma of Event Management at the Canberra Institute of Technology.

After completing the Advanced Diploma, Chloe undertook a traineeship in government with the ACT Education and Training Directorate. Working in the Media and Communications team enabled her to develop her confidence, combining work with hands-on experience while gaining a deeper understanding of the workings of government. Through her traineeship, Chloe has achieved her goal of a permanent job in the Australian Public Service.

In 2015, Chloe was one of 21 apprentices and trainees from around Australia chosen from 35,000 others to participate in Today’s Skills, Tomorrow’s Leaders program, which identifies leadership potential and challenges participants to take their training successes to the next level.
