Ashley Edwards’ journey to becoming a qualified plumber began when he completed a pre-vocational course through PEER VEET (Plumbing, Electrical, Electronic and Refrigeration Vocational Education, Employment and Training). He then undertook a two week work experience placement with A. S. Carlson & Sons where his work performance was so impressive that he was offered an Australian Apprenticeship. Ashley was so committed to his training that he travelled 400 kilometres each way to attend his Certificate III in Plumbing classes at TAFE SA.

Ashley proactively encourages Aboriginal youth to accept the challenge of committing to an Australian Apprenticeship and, having moved from Adelaide to Whyalla to pursue his goal of working in the plumbing industry, regularly returns home to visit family and friends.
