Looking for a job that would challenge her and allow her to undertake physical work, Annalina Kepper saw an opportunity to gain skills with a world-class mining company. She enrolled in a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade at TAFE Queensland North and secured an apprenticeship with Rio Tinto Alcan as a fitter and turner.

Looking for a job that would challenge her and allow her to undertake physical work, Annalina Kepper saw an opportunity to gain skills with a world-class mining company. She enrolled in a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade at TAFE Queensland North and secured an apprenticeship with Rio Tinto Alcan as a fitter and turner.
Having completed her apprenticeship and Certificate III, Annalina is working full-time for Rio Tinto Alcan in the Weipa Mechanical Workshop team and has undertaken additional high risk training in forklift, overhead gantry crane and elevated work platform. She has learned to use the company’s SAP programme and shares her knowledge with her colleagues, and is one of only two people in her workshop to have written and utilised their own programme on the Computer Numeric Controlled lathe.
Annalina is involved in the annual Weipa Fishing Classic and is a member of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia.
