St James College sets an innovative approach. It offers blended bespoke pathways for school students, is characterised by outstanding training facilities and has a collaborative training environment with reciprocal training partnerships; matching outcomes to industry demands. 

St James College delivers quality training in growing industries such as hospitality and tourism, science, technology, engineering, maths, digital technology, business, and health and fitness. St James College strategic direction centres around a whole school approach to training and skills to ensure all students gain transferrable skills for further work or study. Student results are tracked and monitored to meet the Queensland Certificate of Education requirements throughout their high school careers. 

St James College strives to offer inclusive and accessible education. All VET courses are free, and St James College programs are resourced to ensure all students can engage and acquire skills and qualifications, no matter their background or capabilities. In 2022, over 80% of year 12 students from St James College graduated with a Certificate II and/or a Certificate III in a VET qualification.
