After spending several years working in management roles in human resources, Rebecca wanted to change direction and try a new career and took on a traineeship as a crane operator.

The opportunity was exciting for Rebecca and she leapt at the chance to be a role model for her three young children by opening more doors in male-dominated fields.

Rebecca has found her colleagues welcoming, willing and prepared to teach her everything they knew about crane operating. A personal achievement for her was bonding with her colleagues and feeling part of the team.

Rebecca found one of the biggest challenges was learning how to learn again, as the traineeship required a hefty amount of study along with the practical element. She has learnt to be more confident and trust her ability to do the job at hand.

Now her traineeship is completed, Rebecca is proud to be a woman who can operate machinery with the best of them.
