Poppy undertook an Australian School-based Apprenticeship with Indigenous Allied Health Australia. She completed a Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance at the Canberra Institute of Technology under a new program in the ACT called the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Academy.
Poppy is proud of her achievements. With a high level of dedication, professionalism and an eagerness to learn, she completed one Certificate, going on to undertake a second qualification—a Certificate III in Community Services.
Poppy chose to undertake an Australian School-based Apprenticeship because she always wanted to work in the health industry. Her dream is to help others and to have an impact on the experience of patients and their families. Poppy’s VET pathway opened her eyes to the different roles and needs in the health sector. “It was the push I needed to stay in school, and it gave me a lot of life skills in general,” she says.
