Northern Territory warehouse and logistics supervisor, Karen Rose is a passionate advocate for women in non-traditional trade based occupations. As one of few women in her discipline, Karen’s hard work and determination to succeed has led her to become a respected employee of leading mining group, Rio Tinto Alcan.
Karen completed a Diploma of Logistics in 2014 with registered training organisation, Learning Partners and the support of her employer. Already a supervisor in her field, Karen enjoyed gaining skills from her diploma, in particular how the training was flexible enough to tailor itself to real life situations in Karen’s workplace.
The learnings from her studies enhanced Karen’s ability to maintain productivity while managing staff and operations in a changing work environment. Karen believes that the qualification has instilled personal confidence to apply for senior management roles within Rio Tinto Alcan operations, and wants to continue her learning journey through the completion of further qualifications.
