As a global leader in power solutions, Cummins Asia Pacific established an apprentice program in partnership with a number of RTOs to address the skill shortages impacting Australia’s automotive industry. Since 2022, the company has recruited more than 200 diesel technician apprentices, power generation apprentices and parts interpreter apprentices through the program.
There is a demand for skilled automotive technicians in Australia who can adapt to the evolving technological landscape, especially with the growth of electric vehicle and hydrogen products. In response, Cummins Asia Pacific is developing a ‘talent pipeline’ through its apprentice program to meet this demand.
To ensure its apprentices are supported to grow as professional tradespeople, Cummins Asia Pacific has developed a ‘Powering the Apprentice Lifecycle’ framework to create a distinctive and superior apprenticeship experience.
Cummins Asia Pacific will expand its apprentice program in the future to ensure it continues to evolve alongside the automotive industry.
