Certificate IV in Information Technology

RTO: Precept Education Pty Ltd

Employer: ONGC Systems Pty Ltd

Charlotte is a passionate IT Projects Engineer at ONGC Systems, having completed her traineeship and a Certificate IV in Information Technology. Very quickly, Charlotte developed a keen interest in technology and introducing digital solutions for clients, and combined her knowledge and skills from her traineeship and qualification so that she could progress her career as a young woman in computing.

After just six months of work as a trainee, Charlotte took on the role of technical lead for a large-scale Google client-onboarding project and began to prove herself as a leader in her business. Alongside her technical work in the workshop, Charlotte began to work with the Busy at Work Busy Sisters program to help female trainees boost their career prospects. Additionally, Charlotte has established a ‘trainee club’ to help her peers stay up to date with new trends and technologies in the sector.

Charlotte’s VET pathway provided her with a second chance after undergoing significant physical challenges with her disability in 2022, leaving her unable to work at her previous capacity. Her combination of technical expertise and leadership skills did not go unnoticed. In 2023, Charlotte was one of the youngest nominees for the Graduate award at the 2023 Australian Women in ICT Awards, establishing herself as a leadership figure for young girls in IT.

She has completed a range of additional industry training to further develop her technical and leadership skills, including a Veeam certification and has undertaken the MS900 exam.

Charlotte firmly believes the VET pathway was the right one for her. Charlotte said, “she hopes to push boundaries in diversifying and inviting new perspectives into the field of IT”.
