RTO: Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS)

Employer: Broome Aboriginal Medical Services (BRAMS)

Having witnessed the mental health challenges facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Albert realised he needed further skills to positively address these challenges. During his training, Albert was enrolled in a Certificate IV in Mental Health at Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services and employed at Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Services.

Having completed his qualification, Albert now works as a Social and Emotional Wellbeing Officer. His training gave him a greater understanding of mental health, and the importance of being able to identify, address, manage and provide support for mental health.

Albert uses his lived experience to talk with people from all walks of life about the importance of social and emotional wellbeing. Albert has also become an advocate for vocational education, citing his training experience as a truly remarkable and significant journey.

Albert is a performer, volunteer, public speaker and recipient of the 2019 Conservationist of the Year Award.
