Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery

Prior to starting a mature age apprenticeship, Anthony worked in the mining and gas industry for 10 years. After the boom ended and jobs dried up, it became increasingly apparent to Anthony that when all was said and done, he was an unskilled worker.

Determined to change that, Anthony started a mature-age apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery, which he completed in August this year.

Anthony chose carpentry because he has always experienced great personal satisfaction from working hard and building something to create a finished product, so it made sense for him to turn his passion into a career. He has always taken pride in his work and strives to complete everything to a high standard.

Anthony displays genuine care for his colleagues when it comes to safety, well-being and mental health. This was noticed by him employer, who encouraged him to complete the Mates in Construction Connector course. He is now a mentor in the workplace and on his way to becoming a leading hand.
