Certificate III in Agriculture

Sophie Nuske is a future farmer from the South Australian community of Sheringa.

Passionate about the merino wool industry, Sophie chose to board at Cleve Area School because it is a dryland farming specialist school. She is doing a school-based apprenticeship, studying for a Certificate III in Agriculture, which allows her to work alongside experts in the field. A school-based apprenticeship is increasing Sophie’s understanding of the industry and is teaching her best practice sustainable farming, which she intends to follow when she runs her family’s farm in the future.

Coming from a long line of South Australian farmers, Sophie takes the legacy seriously. She shows sheep at the Royal Adelaide Show, classes hoggets (a type of sheep), and helps manage her school’s flock.

Sophie intends to study Animal Science at university to further her goals of helping her family create a sustainable, world class farming operation.
