Certificate III in Health Services Assistance

Shaunah Downton is a proud Kamilaroi woman from Mungindi and is completing a School-based Traineeship in Health Services at the Metro North Hospital & Health Service and has embraced the opportunity to work with some highly skilled medical professionals and feels privileged to work with experienced nursing staff.

Shanunah believes her traineeship is giving her the skills she needs to accomplish her dreams of becoming a midwife, and one day establishing her own foundation to support Indigenous Australians, not just in her own community, but to grow into other rural Aboriginal communities.

Shaunah is an Indigenous Leader of the Garanyali unit at her school where she helps assist Indigenous students with their schoolwork, cultural dancing and interactions with others.
