Marek Porter is always looking for new challenges and opportunities, and has spent many years working towards skills and qualifications through vocational education and training.

It all began more than twenty years ago when Marek completed an apprenticeship as a wood machinist. Even then, his thirst for knowledge and for new skills was evident and he soon diversified into the joinery field.

Still keen to expand his professional repertoire, when a passion for the industrial electrical industry was sparked in Marek he enrolled in a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician with TasTAFE.

While it wasn’t an easy decision to become a mature-age apprentice with a young family, it has paid off for Marek and he graduated two months earlier than planned. During his final year as an apprentice, Marek acquired his registered open cabling license, which is quite an accomplishment for a fourth year apprentice.
