Nathan Powell is proof that dreams can come true at any age. Keen to spend more time with his young family, he began an Electrotechnology apprenticeship as a mature-age apprentice after a career in the police force.

Nathan excelled in his apprenticeship, receiving eight exam results of 100 per cent at trade school. He was a finalist in the Master Builders NT Excellence in Building and Construction Apprentice Awards. He has also received awards from Group Training NT for his outstanding workmanship work ethics.

Nathan credits his family for making huge sacrifices so that he can have a better work life balance. He is starting to feel those sacrifices and his hard work are paying off.

Since tinkering with electronic kits and gadgets as a child, Nathan recently fulfilled another dream when he rebuilt and automated his yacht’s entire electrical system.
