Katayoon (Kathy) finished her Diploma in Community Services through TAFE NSW in 2017 with outstanding results.

Kathy said changing her career from Computer Science and IT to community services has offered her a rich, varied and rewarding professional and personal life.

She started the path to her new career by volunteering at the Coffs Harbour Neighbourhood Centre before starting her diploma, which she finished in just one year. This was a major achievement for Kathy, an Iranian immigrant with a non-English speaking background and no previous job experience in the community services sector.

Reliable and caring with a great sense of humour, Kathy, now living on the Central Coast, works as a Community Visitor Scheme coordinator, and as a Multicultural Social Support Coordinator. She also volunteers at Northern Women’s Health Centre and Wesley Mission.
