A lively crowd of over 740 people attended the 24th annual Australian Training Awards at the National Convention Centre in Canberra on 23 November.

The event brought together finalists from across all fields of vocational education and training (VET) including apprentices, trainees, VET students, teachers, employers and training providers to recognise their contribution to skilling Australia.

Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills, the Hon Karen Andrews MP addressed the crowd, where she acknowledged the finalists for their outstanding achievements in VET.

“These men and women prove that the quality of our national VET sector is world-class and is providing real skills for real careers to its graduates,” Minister Andrews said.

“This is a national celebration of the exceptional achievements of those in our VET system, recognising the students, apprentices, teachers, employers and training organisations that make a difference.”

Finalists go on to become members of the prestigious national VET Alumni, which provides these businesses, registered training organisations and businesses with the opportunity to join a strong network of achievers in VET and share their success stories with the nation.
