Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician

Ella Cavallaro has worked in the electrical sector for 10 years. After gaining confidence as the Northern Territory’s first female linesperson apprentice, she then undertook a second apprenticeship as an electrician, graduating with a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician in October 2015.

During her apprenticeship at Power and Water Corporation, Ella had the opportunity to explore different aspects of the business including servicing its low voltage and high voltage assets and spending time underground. Helping maintain the Channel Island power station provided an insight into instrumentation, while substation services captured her interested and led to a permanent job.

Ella is committed to ongoing training and enjoys supervising apprentices and passing on what she has learnt. A strong advocate for women in trades, one of the proudest achievements of Ella’s apprenticeship was starting the ‘Sparkettes’, a support group that promotes her trade to girls at career expos and schools.
