Certificate IV in Engineering (Instrumentation)

After six years serving in the Australian Defence Force, Brendan Carlson made the difficult decision to change careers at the age of 26. He followed in his father’s footsteps, focusing his attention on an electrical trade. Twelve months with an electrical company as a fly-in fly-out trades’ assistant gave him valuable industry experience which led to an Electrical Instrumentation Apprenticeship with Chevron through Apprenticeships Australia.

Brendan’s Australian Apprenticeship has given him skills and knowledge necessary to be an effective tradesperson in the oil and gas industry while providing unique experiences such as working on Australia’s largest LNG facility, the Gorgon Gas Plant. He continues to undertake qualifications to enhance his understanding of operations and strengthen his technical skills.

Brendan values the strong guidance he received during his Australian Apprenticeship. He takes opportunities to provide similar support to young people as a mentor for Leading Youth Forward, a community charity providing positive experiences and role models for at-risk teens.
