Certificate III in Carpentry

Steven Jeffery fulfilled a lifelong goal when he qualified as a carpenter earlier this year. Previously, he had spent time working with as many trades as he could to gain a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry.

Deciding that carpentry was his true career path, Steven undertook a Certificate III in Carpentry with Swinburne University of Technology. He accepted an apprenticeship with his father as he valued his father’s attention to detail and his commitment to teaching Steven rather than doing tasks himself.

Two years spent with the Department of Human Services helping repair damaged houses made Steven aware of how he could use his skills to assist the community. He has a real passion for helping others and brings that enthusiasm to his work. Steven has been on self-funded trips to India and Cambodia to work with local tradespeople and wishes all apprentices could have the chance to experience such life-changing journeys.
