With a passion for creating amazing food but no hospitality experience, Taylor Wood decided to apply for a position in Challenger Institute of Technology’s Certificate II in Hospitality. She commenced her pre-apprenticeship studies in 2013 while undertaking Year 11 studies at Kolbe Catholic College and working at a local Subway franchise.
After undertaking work experience at a delicatessen, Taylor threw herself into her new vocation with an Australian School-based Apprenticeship, working at Matilda Bay Restaurant and studying for a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery at Challenger. Taylor considers the preparation and cooking of great food to be an art, and she is looking forward to pursuing her apprenticeship full-time upon the completion of her secondary studies.
Taylor has previously been involved in the One Woman Project, a learning project for young women interested in industry. She has volunteered at her local soup kitchen and has participated in a number of fundraising fun runs.
