Whilst in Year 10, Henry Kemp had the opportunity to trial a variety of different trades including plumbing and painting before deciding to begin a pre-apprenticeship in the electrical trade. Henry was drawn to the range of career opportunities the industry had to offer.
Now in Year 12, Henry has commenced an Australian School-based Apprenticeship with Perth-based electrical company, Foster’s Services, where he works two days a week. The rest of the week is spent attending classes at Shenton College where Henry is working towards obtaining his Western Australian Certificate of Education.
Henry’s Australian School-based Apprenticeship has allowed him to develop his understanding and skill in the electrical trade through a mixture of theory and practical experience in the workplace. He looks forward to completing his qualifications and gaining experience in the mining industry. He is also undertaking a business course at school in preparation for one day opening a business of his own.
