TAFE NSW – South Western Sydney Institute (TAFE SWSi) provides training to more than 3000 secondary school students through VET in Schools arrangements, TAFE delivery, Australian School-based Apprenticeships and collaborative programmes targeting secondary students at risk of disengagement.
TAFE SWSi has partnerships to improve access and participation in its VET programmes, including on-site delivery of VET at eight high schools, the establishment of a Trade Training Centre with a local college, nursing students completing work placements at Westmead Hospital and the Wests Tigers NRL Club junior development squad players undertaking VET in accordance with the club’s goal that all players obtain a qualification.
TAFE SWSi offers the opportunity to combine two complementary industry training packages to maximise pathways post-school and access to Australian Apprenticeships. Other programmes can be fast-tracked to be finished in three terms to meet the needs of students who want a qualification prior to leaving school at age 17.
