Main Roads WA is responsible for the management and provision of road access in one of the most widely geographically distributed road networks in the world. The company’s strategic plan, 2020, allows Main Roads WA to ensure its investment in training continues to meet current business needs. Employees participate in formal training activities each month and are able to access e-learning through a newly implemented Learning Management System.

Main Roads WA has close partnerships with the Australian Institute of Management, Curtin University and The Winding Staircase. These relationships have resulted in the development of a number of programmes aimed at creating a strong leadership culture within the organisation.

With the Challenger Institute of Technology, Main Roads WA offers a number of nationally recognised qualifications to its Materials Engineering employees. The Development Employee Leadership Program is facilitated by the Australian Institute of Management and has seen more than 120 employees graduate with a Diploma of Management, with another 40 enrolled.
