While outstanding grades were a fantastic result for Michael, the Alice Springs resident desired a more specific set of skills to anchor his future career and felt working with his hands would bring him a greater sense of achievement than a university pathway. To this end, in 2013 Michael commenced a Certificate II in Telecommunications as a traineeship hosted by Telstra, and employed by SKILLED Group which he completed in 2014.
With a diverse range of experience in carrier and privately owned telecommunications equipment, wireline, wideband, fibre, mobiles and radio transmission, Michael believes the traineeship has given him the skills he needs for a successful career in telecommunications.
Michael is a very enthusiastic advocate of traineeships, and exhibits his career as proof that on-the-job training combined with formal learning can lead to excellent outcomes for both the employer and the trainee.
